Hi, I’m Clair and this blog is about my adventures designing creative textile pieces. I want to share my experiences with you – what worked well and what didn’t – how I got there and the end results. I’m hoping that this will inspire you to try these techniques and also, to share your own experiences with me too.
The name – Hepzibah Flair – where did that come from? Well, originally I wanted to name my daughter Hepzibah, but this didn’t happen (although she did add it as a middle name for a few years). So, as I still loved the name and it hadn’t yet found a home, it seemed fitting to have it for my blog – Flair was added to make me feel as though I’m being creative!
Me – From schooldays to now……some 30+ years I have been creating something – at school it was batik, still life and figure painting that nurtured my artistic side;
pre children was filled with work, cross stitch, embroidery and knitting;
young children – lots of knitting and a little painting;
older children – work, botanical art;
undergraduates – empty house – oh yes, bring it on! Work and lots of fabric dyeing, patchwork, quilting, stencilling, fabric transfer paints, voiles, felt, ribbons, City & Guilds courses and down time spent taking photos.
My creative being has been unleashed and I feel alive with ideas, all wanting to be developed at the same time. I am continually learning new things and I want to share this with you. So, if you’ve got a few minutes spare, have a look and feel inspired and enthused to go create something. Oh, and don’t forget to let me know what you think – I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks for reading,
Clair
